Common questions
The script doesn't follow my voice
Allow microphone and speech recognition access: on iPhone and iPad in Settings › Tell Me, on Mac in System Settings › Privacy & Security. Speak in the script's language and keep background noise down. You can always switch to steady auto-scroll with the waveform button.
How do I split a script into steps?
Start a line with #, add a line of ---, or use a numbered or bulleted list. Each one starts a new step that you can record on its own.
How many recordings are free?
Tell Me includes 3 free recordings, and prompting is always free. Tell Me Unlimited is a one-time purchase that removes the limit on all your devices.
I bought Tell Me Unlimited but it's locked
Open Settings in Tell Me and tap Restore Purchase, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.
How do I use my Mac as a remote?
On your iPhone or iPad, open a script and tap Prompt or Record. On your Mac, choose Remote in the sidebar and pick the device. Both need Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on, and Allow remote control must be on in the iPhone or iPad's Tell Me settings.
How do I sync with iCloud or Google Drive?
Sync is optional and off by default. Turn it on in Settings › Sync. iCloud starts the next time you open Tell Me. Google Drive copies your scripts (and takes, if you include them) into a "Tell Me" folder in your Drive.
Where are my recordings saved?
Inside Tell Me, under Takes. By default they're also saved to Photos on iPhone and iPad, or to Movies › Tell Me on Mac.
